Information we collect

Information you give us

Our consultation form asks for your name and phone number, and optionally your email address and a short description of what happened. You choose what to put in that description. We also receive whatever you tell us if you call the office or send us an email.

Please do not send confidential, sensitive or time-sensitive information through this website. Until we have agreed in writing to represent you, no attorney-client relationship exists, and material you send us is not protected as a privileged communication.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours is served by a hosting provider that records standard technical information about each request, including your IP address, the pages you view, the date and time, the referring page, and basic details about your browser and device. This is used to serve the site, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.

Local storage and cookies

If you switch the site to Spanish, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. It contains nothing but the language you picked and is not shared with anyone.

Advertising and mapping tools described below may set their own cookies or similar identifiers when they load. You can control these through your browser settings and the opt-out links in this policy.

Advertising and measurement

We advertise on platforms operated by Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To understand whether that advertising works, this website uses the Meta Pixel, a piece of code that reports certain actions back to Meta — that a page was viewed, that a phone number was tapped, and that a consultation form was submitted.

These reports record that an action happened. They do not include your name, your phone number, your email address, or anything you wrote in the description of your accident. Meta may combine what it receives with information it already holds about you if you have a Meta account, and may use it to show you our ads.

You can limit this. Meta's own controls are at facebook.com/adpreferences/ad_settings. Industry-wide opt-outs are available at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org. Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies, and browser extensions can block trackers outright.

Maps

Our contact section can display a Google map of the office. The map does not load until you choose to open it. Once you do, Google receives the request and its own privacy policy applies to it.

Reviews

We display reviews published about the firm on Google. These are fetched by our own server, not by your browser, so viewing them does not send anything about you to Google.

How we share information

We share information only in these circumstances:

• Service providers. Companies that host this website, deliver our form submissions, filter spam, and provide email. They may process the information only to provide those services to us.
• Advertising platforms. As described above, and limited to the actions described there.
• Professional advisers and co-counsel, where it is necessary to evaluate or handle a matter.
• When the law requires it, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, or to protect the rights and safety of the firm or others.

How long we keep it

We keep inquiries for as long as we need them for the purpose you sent them, and afterwards for as long as our professional obligations, our insurers, or the law require records of that kind to be kept. Technical logs are kept for a short period and then discarded. When information is no longer needed for any of those purposes, we delete it or put it beyond use.

Security

This site is served only over an encrypted connection, and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. We restrict access to inquiry information to people at the firm who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@dcnyclaw.com or call (718) 328-8001 and we will respond as promptly as we can. Some information may need to be retained where our professional or legal obligations require it, and we will tell you if that is the case.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under your state's privacy law, including the right to know what is collected, to have it deleted, to correct it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Contact us using the details above and we will handle your request in line with the law that applies to you.

Do Not Track

Browsers differ in how they send Do Not Track signals and there is no common standard for responding to them, so this site does not respond to them. The controls listed under Advertising and measurement are the effective way to limit tracking.

Children

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it. Where an injured person is a minor, we deal with a parent or guardian.

Portions of this website may be considered attorney advertising under the rules of the New York courts. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome. Nothing on this site is legal advice, and reading it or contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship.

If we change this policy we will post the revised version here and update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be identified clearly.
